Building on Amy’s legacy to inspire the next generation of pilots and engineers, or to chase their dreams whatever they may be..

"Believe nothing to be impossible."

– Amy Johnson, 1936

Be Inspired and FLY

Amy Johnson’s story never fails to astound people and her spirit for chasing her dreams, no matter how far out of reach they were, continues to inspire and motivate people; she remains a powerful role model.

The Amy Johnson Project has enjoyed telling Amy’s story to many people and organisations over the years and it is always received with awe and excitement and with this in mind we are working on ambitious new plans for the future.

As we approach the 100th anniversary of the Australia flight in 2030, the Amy Johnson Project is working in partnership with Jenny Lockyer, performer and art practitioner https://www.jennylockyer.co.uk/ to develop her idea for a festival celebrating the centenary. FLY will be an international festival held at Croydon Aerodrome Hotel on the 4th-5th May 2030, with multiple satellite events across the UK and abroad.

FLY - The Amy Johnson Festival of Inspiration

Celebrating an enduring legacy and the centenary of Amy’s solo flight from England to Australia.

The festival will celebrate aviation, engineering, science, education and art.

FLY will inspire the next generation to live fully, be bold, chase their dreams and “believe nothing to be impossible” (Amy Johnson 1936).

The long term vision is for FLY to go way beyond celebrating the story of Amy Johnson and her legacy. We see FLY as a movement for hope, happiness and a better world.

We hope to develop an outreach programme for schools in the run up to the festival. Currently, if you are a school or group wishing to book a workshop then please contact us to book Project Director, Jane Delamaine or for a whole day of amazing education and fun, you can book one of Jenny Lockyer’s wonderful workshops.

We are in the early stages of research and development for FLY and looking for support, partners and funding. If you are able to help with any of these we would love to hear from you so please do get in touch via the contact page.
